Viewing high-definition TV

Digital television in HD, like Directv, is characterized by issuing a television signal of a much higher quality than the standard.

Direct TV, which in itself improves the picture quality and sound compared to analog television, can further enhance this quality by means of high definition, with the only drawback that occupy a bandwidth equal to that currently occupy two or three channels simultaneously.
Commonly, the analogue television signal is transmitted through the system PAL, with a resolution of 720 x 576 pixels. The standard TDT compressing this signal is emitted, using the MPEG-2, which provides image quality equivalent to that of DVD. For its part, the high-definition Freeview, which uses the MPEG-4 (H.264), has a quality equivalent to that of Blu-ray, with a maximum resolution of 1920 x1080 pixels.

The current Freeview has at least twice the resolution of the digital terrestrial television standard and their quality is superior to that offered even a DVD.

When buying a TV to watch high-definition TV you'll see that some have a sticker that reads 'HD Ready' or 'HD Compatible'. This means that devices are capable of reproducing high definition signal, but this does not have its own resolution TVs are ideal for this. What they do is reduce the resolution of the image to fit the actual screen resolution, and therefore do not guarantee a resolution of 1920 x1080, which is characteristic of HD. To enjoy high-definition TV will need a 100% TV Full HD, and, of course, be able to tune channels that broadcast in high definition. The most useful thing is to shop TVs with the legend 'HD 1080p, which must also have Mpeg4 H.264 decoders.

Certain autonomic channels and already DirectTV broadcasts in high definition. However, these emissions are still being tested and there is still a bit to the HD TV to reach its full development. Keep in mind that this new format is not yet profitable for some retailers, among other things because it takes too much bandwidth.

As in many other aspects of DTT, the arrival of high definition television this form has not been without controversy. Many users who have already bought their receptors have realized that they are unable to decode the signal cable digital television high definition. The standard TDT, both the payment such as open issues in MPEG-2, while the quality does MPEG-4, allowing higher quality. Decoders Digital TV Standard are not able to decode the latter format, and here lies the problem.
