Coffe Sleeve : Simple Idea multi million dollar business
In 1991, Jay Sorensen, a gas station owner and part-timer real estate agent, has an experience that changes his life forever. While driving on the road, he spilled coffee in his lap and soon gave him inspiration for a new invention in hot beverage industries with disposable cups.
He comes with a unique idea for cardboard hearts fit-sized with standard drinking cup that allows consumers to keep them safe to drink their beverages without getting burned. His coffee cup sleeve, and this become his patent, is The Jay Jacket (later renamed Java Jacket).
Sorensen got a simple idea into a multi-million dollar family business. Currently, the business continues to grow and develop equal to more than 350 million cartons of beverages such as waffle sleeves sold. Sorensen's distribution has grown outside the coffee house to include convenience stores, borders book stores and other special shops throughout the country.
He is the first insulating coffee sleeves to go to coffee market. However, Sorensen has not been supported from the competition. His Portland-based family owned company offers a handful of outstanding employees dedicated to customer service combined with the aggressive market strategy have allowed for the Java Jacket, their coffee sleeve brand, remains the market leader.
